Drive Safe Kalamazoo
Drive Safe Kalamazoo aims to increase the safety of our community by establishing a free, accessible, non-judgmental, anonymous and convenient late night transportation service for students of Western Michigan University.
We do not promote the use of alcohol, but we acknowledge its existence in our community. By providing a safe ride for community members, we hope to eliminate any negative consequences alcohol may generate. We aim to increase community safety by keeping drunk drivers off our roads and providing safe rides home for any reason (including to avoid walking home in unsafe conditions or because of car trouble).

Kalamazoo Drop-In Child Care Center
Free, short term child care for low-income families with children from 6 weeks through 5 years. Parents are able to place their children in the care of the qualified KDCCC staff while they search for jobs, seek housing, attend appointments, or take a healthy break from the demands of parenting. Hours are Monday through Friday from 11am-3pm.

The objectives and purposes of this non-profit organization, organized in February 1946 are:
- To Coordinate the interests of the Garden Clubs in the Kalamazoo Area and to bring them into closer relations of mutual helpfulness by association, conference and correspondence.

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of SW Michigan
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of SW Michigan exists to put an end to the senseless destruction of healthy companion animals in Kalamazoo County and Southwest Michigan and to ensure that all animals in our community are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. We are committed to establishing and running a no-kill shelter for the homeless pets of Southwest Michigan. No-kill, as we define it, signifies a commitment to rescue, rehabilitate, sterilize, and re-home healthy and adoptable pets. In the meantime, we foster as many animals as our volunteers can take in! In 2005, we rescued and re-homed over 1000 dogs, cats, puppies & kittens, primarily from SW MI Animal Control facilities. We are always looking for additional volunteers to help with caring for the animals at the kennel, fostering, general clerical, fundraising, and adoption events.
Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War
Our purpose is to perpetuate the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), and of the men who saved the Union in 1861 to 1865: to assist in every practicable way in the preservation and making available for research of documents and records pertaining to the GAR and its members; to cooperate in doing honor to all those who have patriotically served our country in any war; to teach patriotism and the duties of citizenship, the true history of our country, and the love and honor of our flag; to oppose every tendency or movement that would weaken loyalty to, or make for the distruction or impairment of, our constitutional Union; and to inculcate and broadly sustain the American principles of representative government, of equal rights, and of impartial justice for all. This is accomplished through our several programs: Monuments & Memorials Preservation, Graves Registration, GAR Records, etc. Membership is open to male blood relatives of persons who served between April 12, 1861, and April 9, 1865, as soldiers or sailors of the Union Army and were honorably discharged therefrom at the close of such service or who died in such service. The local chapter is the Gen. Benjamin Pritchard Camp No. 20, which meets at the Oshtemo branch of the Kalamazoo Public Library, 7265 West Main Street, Oshtemo. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month, March through November. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is chartered by Act of Congress (Public Law 605, 1954).

The Southwest Michigan Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is an all-volunteer local organization who raises and grants funds to provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment to medically under servedd populations in Southwest Michigan. At least 75% of funds remain in Southwest Michigan, and the other 25% of funds are applied directly to national breast cancer research.
